Painting the Collage

After editing the collage on the computer, the image is printed on A6 photo paper and then it's off to the studio to paint it. The above photo shows the result - acrylic on canvas, 30 x 20 ins.

Editing the Collage

The next step after creating the collage is to scan and then edit using a combination of Photoshop and ArtRage. In the example above the image has been smoothed using the Photoshop Smart Blur filter, and then messed around a bit using the palette knife tool in ArtRage. ArtRage is a terrific little painting app, runs on Mac and Windows - see http://www.ambientdesign.com/artrage.html.

Collage Notebook

To get this blog started I've chosen the collage aspect of my work. This is the newest and in some ways the most interesting stuff I'm doing at the moment (to me at any rate) - and it's quite good for countering insomnia at 3 in the morning.
The collages are constructed with images ripped from colour magazines, pasted into my A6 Moleskine notebook - see above.
